Wanda Gail Hicks
December 13,1950 to February 17, 2021
Wife of Dan Hicks. Mother of Paul (Stacey) Hicks, Pamela Hicks, Neil (Ashley) Hicks. Grandmother of Payton Maertens, Emily Maertens and Maverick Hicks. Sister to Cheryl Cappadocia, Terry (Sue) Cangiano, and Rick (Fran) Cangiano.
Dan and Wanda were married just a few months shy of 50 years. They did everything together: errands, medical appointments, spur-of-the-moment road trips, camping.
Wanda loved interacting with people. She had an infectious, hearty laugh and was well known for her smile. Her interest in people was evident by the many questions she asked in conversations. She was compassionate and forgiving, giving people the benefit of the doubt.
Her love language was food. If one of her kids showed up at the door, she would immediately be in the kitchen putting together something to eat. It was a practical expression of her love and care.
Wanda never had any medical surgeries or was laid up with a lengthy illness. Instead, she was the primary caregiver to her own immediate family going through such events. She was always there to help.
In her last years, her greatest joy was her grandson, Maverick. He was the topic of most conversations, and she had to share any new developments. She loved him immensely.
Her faith in Jesus is what carried her through life. First, she placed her trust in Him for salvation, and from then on, she trusted in God's sovereign will. She knew God was in control and learned contentment in every season of life. She was a woman of prayer, faithfully bringing her family to the Lord and trusting Him to work in their lives.
We are grateful for the years God gave us with her, and we celebrate her arrival in heaven. We are greatly comforted by the knowledge that she is with Jesus. Absent from the body, present with the Lord.
