Passed away on June 28 at Mariposa House Orillia hospice: Roberto Wilson, age 29. He was hospitalized May 28 at Soldiers Memorial and subsequently diagnosed with metastatic bowel cancer.Roberto (Paul) was born in San Ignacio, Belize in July 16, 1992 to Maria Theresa Flores, location currently unknown. Adopted by the late Marlene Wilson and Larry Wilson of Orillia, he was found to have severe aphasia, with poor gross motor control, and verbal apraxia. In spite of difficultly moving, swallowing, and speaking, Roberto loved to skateboard, won tournaments at Yugio , and was well liked at The Meeting Place. According to his Uncle Ralph Moore in a dream, Roberto is ‘talking his head off’and enjoying skateboarding in the next life, with his late grandparents, mother, and friends. He is survived also by his father, and his brother John Wilson and sister Carmen Black, and nieces Kayden, Maci,ws and nephew Keighen. Many thanks to Rev Nicole Matthews who helped anthologize his book of rap lyrics, his adult supporters Mort and Dorothy Seymour and family, and his medical team in and out of Soldiers. His friends at the Meeting Place with the Grahams of Orillia had five trees planted in Sudbury in his honour, and presented the Wilsons with a commemorative plaque.
